Marissa McRay’s approach to movement is both highly specialized and deeply informed by science. Her work began through personal rehabilitation in 2007, when Pilates became a catalyst not only for recovery, but for a broader understanding of how intelligent movement can enhance strength, performance, and longevity.
With a background in medical speech-language pathology, clinical research, and graduate studies in neuroscience, Marissa brings a refined, analytical lens to movement. As a Corrective Exercise Specialist, she integrates principles of neuromuscular control, motor learning, and biomechanics to deliver precise, individualized instruction that goes far beyond traditional exercise.
Her training includes advanced certifications across the full STOTT PILATES® repertoire, along with specialization in athletic conditioning, injuries and special populations, and complementary movement systems. She was selected as an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew (STOTT PILATES®)—an international leader in contemporary Pilates—where she educates and mentors other instructors in developing clinical reasoning, observational skill, and teaching precision.
Marissa works with a discerning clientele, including athletes, active individuals, and those returning to activity following injury recovery. Her sessions are intentionally tailored, with a focus on efficiency, quality of movement, and long-term results. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, her work emphasizes understanding the individual body and building adaptable, resilient movement patterns.
In addition to her client work, Marissa trains and develops other movement professionals, helping them move beyond memorized exercises toward a deeper level of critical thinking and application. Her teaching emphasizes clarity, adaptability, and a high standard of care.
Known for her precision, highly trained eye, and ability to translate complex movement concepts into clear, effective instruction, Marissa creates an environment that is both focused and supportive. Her work is designed not only to improve how clients move—but to elevate how movement is understood.
